On the day appointments can be made either by telephoning the surgery from 8.00am Monday to Friday or by calling in to the surgery from 8.30am
We will ask you questions about why you need an appointment and will sometimes direct you to an alternative healthcare practitioner – this may be a pharmacist, dentist, optician, or other local service.
We offer:
URGENT APPOINTMENTS
If you need to be seen urgently, please telephone or come into the surgery straight away. You will be offered an appointment the same day, but it may not be with the clinician of your choice.
All children under the age of 16 with acute presentations will be offered the same day consultation by the appropriate clinician
PRE-BOOKED APPOINTMENTS
Pre-bookable appointments are available to book with our GPs, nurse practitioner and our practice nurses.
You may book with a clinician of choice up to 2 weeks in advance for GPs and 4 weeks in advance for our nurse practitioner and practice nurses. However, note that clinicians are sometimes away from the surgery, which will impact the number of appointments available.
TELEPHONE CONSULTATION
Patients do not need to see a doctor for all illnesses or enquiries and therefore we offer telephone consultation with a clinician.
HOME VISITS
Home visits are at the discretion of the doctor. Please phone before 10.00am. When the patient’s condition genuinely warrants a home visit, please give the reception staff as much detail as possible – patient’s full name, address, age, telephone number and the reason for the visit.
This information is vital for the doctor on-call to prioritise his rounds and allows urgent cases to be seen promptly. We realise that most people make a valiant effort to attend the surgery for which we are considerably grateful. Please remember that several patients can be seen in the surgery in the time it takes to do a home visit.
OUT OF HOURS
Should you need to access to a doctor outside of surgery hours, please call NHS 111
Please note: Once the surgery has reached full capacity of appointments on any day your medical problem may be directed to other services for your care outside of Mountain View Health Centre. This may include the Urgent Primary Care Centre (UPCC) which is a service based at Morriston Hospital (same as where you go for Out of Hours care) they will contact you by telephone and either treat you over the telephone or give you an appointment with them to be examined.
